VibeLokal ("we," "us," or "our") operates the VibeLokal mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, password, and the date and time you confirm that you are 18 or older when you create an account.
• Profile Information: Bio, avatar/profile photo, and interests you select.
• Content: Events, LinkUps, updates, messages, comments, and photos you create or share.
• Communications: Messages you send to other users through direct messages or event chat.

Information Collected Automatically

• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your device's location to show nearby events and activities. We use approximate location (city-level) for event personalization. Your precise coordinates are never shared with other users.
• Local Updates location: When you post a Local Update, your position is reduced to an approximate area (a grid cell of roughly several hundred metres) before it is stored — we do not retain your exact position for area-level posts, and other users only ever see the approximate area and a rounded distance. An update carries an exact position only when you explicitly attach it to a public place, event or LinkUp. Official-source posts (e.g. police notices) use the area-level position supplied by the authority. Local Updates expire after their visibility window and are no longer shown after expiry.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers for push notification delivery.
• Usage Data: How you interact with the App (pages viewed, features used, events attended).

Information from Third Parties

• Event Data: We aggregate publicly available event information from platforms like Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, and Google Places to enrich our event listings.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Personalize your experience based on your interests and location
• Show you relevant nearby events and activities
• Facilitate connections and messaging between users
• Send push notifications about events, LinkUps, and messages (with your consent)
• Generate activity feeds and event recommendations
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service

How We Share Your Information

Public Information

Your name, avatar, bio, and interests are visible to other App users on your public profile. Your email address and precise location are never shared publicly.

With Other Users

• When you commit to an event, other attendees can see your name, avatar, and commitment level.
• Messages you send in event chats are visible to other chat participants.
• Direct messages are only visible to you and the recipient.

Service Providers

We may share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the App (hosting, storage, analytics). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL) and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information.

Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage.

Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Update: You can view and update your profile information in the App settings.
• Location: You can enable or disable location services in your device settings at any time.
• Notifications: You can manage push notification preferences in the App and your device settings.
• Delete Account: You can delete your account from the App (Profile > About > Delete Account). This permanently removes your profile, and deactivates your account.
• Data Export: Contact us to request a copy of your data.

Age Eligibility

The App and account-based social features are intended only for adults aged 18 or older. Account creation requires an 18+ self-attestation. We do not knowingly allow people under 18 to create accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will take steps to remove the account and associated personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
